How We Build Your Web Site:

Some people can find the process of creating a web site confusing and overwhelming, so we've created this step by step list to explain the process and what to expect when using First InSites for your web site design needs.

Register a Domain Name: A domain name is what you type in your internet browser's address bar to go to a specific web site For example, our domain name is firstinsites.com. Entering www.firstinsites.com in your internet browser address bar will direct you to our home page. A domain name provides an online identity and a contact point for your business, organization, or project. Almost every transaction on the internet relies on a domain name to conduct commerce, display web pages, deliver e-mail, and more.

If you haven't already purchased a domain name, we can help you with that process. Decide what you would like your domain name to be and we will be happy to see if it is available and offer alternatives if it is not. We can purchase and register the domain name for you. The current cost of a domain name varies depending on the registrar used and the length of the registration period.

The domain name registration company we use currently charges $9.98 for a one year registration. First InSites does not apply a setup fee to take care of this process for you. The cost of domain name registration would be billed to you at the time of purchase.

Web Site Hosting: If you wanted to set up your own shop or office you would have to rent office space or space in a shopping center or retail complex. Similarly, in cyberspace, you have to rent space. The only difference is that you will not be signing a shop-lease, you will agree to a hosting contract to rent hard disk space on a hosting company's server. This incurs a monthly charge. These charges vary greatly depending on the needs of your site.

The web site hosting company we use currently charges $17.95 per month for a very versatile and stable hosting plan. First InSites does not apply a setup fee to take care of this process for you. The cost of web hosting would be billed to you at the time of purchase.

Web Site Design and Function: A good web site is a site that meets all of your needs, both visually and functionally. The best way to start is to make a check list of what you would want your web site to accomplish. For example: what information would you like your pages to convey, what sort of information would you like to obtain, how many different pages will you require, do you have a color scheme in mind to match an existing company logo, are you going to need a shopping cart, would you like a photo gallery, etc.

• Ideally we would like our clients to supply us with the content for their web site such as text, logos, and images. At First InSites we understand that this is not always possible and we are capable of supplying you with customized logos and graphics.

• Text content for your site is best supplied in a Word Document. The text and images can be emailed to us as an attachment. Please note that the biggest, highest resolution image is always best.

• Please be as specific as possible. This avoids confusion and lost time. If you need help in deciding on a layout or color scheme, you can view our sample sites to help with your decision. It is extremely helpful if you know of an existing web site that you particularly like. If comparing to another site, be sure to be very specific about which features you need and do not need.

• The cost of the initial design of your site would be determined by the number of pages you require and the functions those pages are to perform. The number of graphics we are required to create will also affect the initial cost. We will inform you of that cost before we enter into an agreement to proceed. Monthly fees paid to First InSites are determined by the amount of maintenance your site would require. Again, this information would provided to you ahead of time.

Ecommerce/Online Store: Some of our clients require an online store enabling their customers to purchase and process payments online. First InSites can provide you with the online shopping experience your customers would expect if they were physically in your store. The shopping cart software we utilize at First InSites has all of the features you would require. The software currently costs $159.00 and is a one time charge. First InSites does not apply an additional set up fee to purchase and install this software on your web site. The cost of this software would be billed to you at the time of purchase.

PayPal Account and SSL Certificates: Running an online store involves some requirements and responsibilities. Our shopping cart software can be fully integrated with a PayPal account therefore we require that you have a PayPal account if you intend to sell online. We can guide you in setting up your account with PayPal.

An SSL certificate would need to be installed on your web site to ensure your customers that their online transactions are being handled in a safe and professional manner.
